How do you think you'd feel if you had betrayed your side in the war because you realised their fright doesn't match your beliefs anymore (whereas the other side does), and yet the other side doesn't accept you because you've been an enemy so far?
How do you think you'd feel if your goal were fair, yet those around you utterly refuse to help you reaching it bcause they don't want to be used as means to an end?

Quote from the character:
"I am no tool to be used to shield our line from enemy fire. I am no sellsword. I have beliefs, and I will not fight and give my life for someone who does not share them. They are more important than the colour of the flag I have to fight under to defend them; I fight for them, not for the flag."
